How to Set Up Trusted Alert Centre in Under Two Minutes

A quick setup walkthrough for choosing your location, selecting channels, and managing read/dismiss controls across devices.

How to Set Up Trusted Alert Centre in Under Two Minutes

If you want trusted weather, flood and overflow updates without notification overload, this setup takes less than two minutes.

Step 1: Open Trusted Alert Centre

Go to the Trusted Alert Centre setup screen from the app menu.

Step 2: Choose UK or International

  • **UK** gives location-based channels (weather, flood, storm overflows)
  • **International** gives FCDO travel channels

Step 3: Set your location

Use one of these:

  • Search by postcode/address
  • Use current location

Then pick your radius:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • 20 km

Step 4: Filter channels

Use category filters to narrow the list:

  • Weather
  • Flood
  • Storm overflows (live spills)

For Met Office warnings, you can split by severity so Amber/Red can be treated differently from Yellow.

Step 5: Subscribe in bulk

Select all, select specific targets, then subscribe in one action.

Step 6: Manage your inbox

Inside Trusted Alert Centre inbox you can:

  • Mark alerts read/unread
  • Mark all read
  • Dismiss an alert without unsubscribing

Read/dismiss state persists per user across devices, so your inbox stays consistent if you switch phone, browser or laptop.

Final thought

Set it once, review quickly, and only follow the alert targets that matter to your household.

Build your household setup before you need it

Keep important records, contacts, reminders, trusted alerts, and ownership information in one place so your household can act earlier and recover with less chaos.
